entre Amberloup et Pussemange
As we journey along this walk, I take you from Freux to Pussemange, blending past and present, documents old and new, without hesitation. We could have met at the Station Café, on a late summer’s day in 1924. Back when the tram set the rhythm of the towns, it offered a bucolic route between Freux and Pussemange. Across a landscape of rolling contours, our adventure follows the lines, brushing against the province of Namur and winding gently through the beautiful region of Luxembourg. Starting in the village of Freux, we pass through Bras, Vesqueville, and Saint-Roch, reaching Saint-Hubert and Poix, where we’ll take the time to explore their rich past. A few steps beyond Poix, the villages of Libin and Maissin nestle within the curves of the Lesse River. We continue our gentle ramble toward Paliseul and climb to the heights of Bouillon, where the tramway overlooked the Semois valley as it gracefully traced the foot of the mighty fortress. A feast for the eyes, where breathtaking views and ever-changing panoramas unfold. A whimsical ascent takes us to the edge of the world, to the quiet village of Corbion, where – it is said – the seasons are best savored under the Ardennes sun. Passing through Sugny, we end our journey in the heart of Pussemange. Set to the rhythm of the rails, this 75-kilometre journey, rich in discoveries and landscapes, brings us back to a time when the tram gave structure and soul to everyday life.
